What we are all about
Founded more than 50 years ago, Manatee Glens is a not-for-profit provider
of mental health and addiction services. In addition, our specialty
services include Child Welfare Services (foster care supervision),
a Rape Crisis Program, outreach and education services to prevent addictions
before they begin and an employee assistance program.
Manatee Glens is the community’s oldest and largest provider of
mental health and addiction services. Throughout our history, when help
is needed for those in crisis, Manatee Glens has been available to provide
resources.
Annually, Manatee Glens provides counseling and other services to 10,000
individuals and offers programs to those of all ages.
Manatee Glens employs more than 450, including psychiatrists, licensed
therapists, other allied health professionals and child welfare family
care coordinators.
Manatee Glens is licensed by the State of Florida and accredited by
the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.
When an individual has any concerns about client care and safety in the organization that the organization has not addressed, he/she may contact the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations by calling 1-800-994-6610 or emailing complaint@jcaho.org
Innovative Care for the Community at Manatee Glens:
Through the past 50 years, we have compiled an impressive record:
- We
are one of only six mental health centers in the state that also
operates a hospital.
- More than a decade ago, we joined with five other
mental health
centers to collaborate with a managed partner to serve our clients.
The Florida Health Partnership is part of a national Medicaid demonstration
partnership that has received much attention.
- Our outpatient detox unit
has saved countless lives and become a role model for other programs.
- Through the Safe Children Coalition, we manned the front lines of
the movement to privatize child welfare services.
- The Florida Assertive
Community Treatment Team (FACT) delivers mental health services through
a “hospital without walls,” and
into the community.
- A Homeless Outreach Program helps those with mental
illness and addictions to link to treatment.
- As a Clinical Center of
excellence, we partner with the University of South Florida, Florida
Clinical Research Center and the Lake Erie
College of Osteopathy.
- To assist in ending homelessness in Manatee
County in the next ten years, Manatee Glens and the City of Bradenton
have partnered on
a Shelter Plus Care grant to provide assistance to homeless persons
with special needs.
